Learning to solve maths word problems

Reflection on my learning:

This term I have been learning how to solve maths word problems.
I learned that drawing a problem can help you figure out what is happening. It helps my mind to remember.

To do this problem I used my times table knowledge to help help work out 5 x $4 and 5 x 50c. I also drew a picture of the doll and the pocket money to make it easier to work out how many weeks she would need to save for.

I have also learned how to act out a problem and how to use a grid. I like using a grid because it's fun and it helps you to remember the doubles of big numbers.

Next, I would like to keep using grids.

You did an excellent range of mathematical thinking to solve this extended maths problem. Excellent reflection and recording of your solutions. I also like the way you listen carefully to other people's strategies and can see if they are more effective in certain problems or are faster. Keep up the great work.
